Quickwrite- Poe's Death

How do you think Poe died? Support with what you remember from your readings..:

I think Poe died from depression and the original sickness he had. His families never really went to see him, he never had any companions, and he didn’t have money. Perhaps, the main reason he died was because he knew he wouldn’t be able to pay the bills from the hospital. According to the story, he was drunk before, this proves that he was either depressed or really happy partying. The “really happy partying” part is not possible, because he had no friends or family members around. Therefore, it only could mean that he was depressed, and possibly wanted to die. Poe also was never happy or proud with the work he has done. Therefore, he also probably became depressed at the fact that it wasn’t important and he was worthless because no one read them. I think that Poe died from depression, which caused a sickness, which cause him his death.

Difference Between TMDG movie and acutal TMDG story

The were other guests in Zaroff's house. Such as the drunk man and the lady, also when the story mentioned that he heard a MONSTER screaming, in the movie it was a man or woman screaming. Also they did not call Zaroff, "General" Zaroff like in the story, but Count Zaroff. The story also did not mention that General Zaroff had other servants, and also there weren't any Captains or friends on the ship; as shown in the movie. There was also no Whitney in the story, but rather four other people. Also, it wasn't like the story, where Rainsford fell off the ship to get his pipe, but it was rather the ship crashed. Also, it did not mention anything about sharks in the water.

Thrills

I like scary movies, because they always leave a mysterious plot and your heart pounds with it.  I do not share any dislikes with scary movies, because I know it is just a movie and is not real. Therefore, I only like them, because it gives me a fun time wondering what the next thing will happen. What I think most scary movies are know, is gory and disgusting things happening. Scary movies nowadays does not necessarily have monsters or ghosts, it sometimes contains an unexpected story with gore. For, example, a horror movie that only contains humans are the SAW series. People try to scare themselves sometimes, because they think it is fun and builds a suspense in their life. Sometimes they do not even notice it, for example, for a time I thought that my room had a ghost; but that was just me, I did quite enjoy hiding myself in my bed sheet for the whole night. Sometimes, like the previous example, we scare ourselves to gain something else good.

The Necklace: Quickwrite

Since the start of 7th grade I wanted to be like the Korean kids. They are rich and always had new clothes and new hairstyles every week. They would be like the "cool" students of the school, walking around being proud, and bully some "nerds". Sometimes to join you have to be Korean, but there are exceptions, if you are "cool" enough. After months of trying to get in, I got in, I was so happy. I would hang out with them every Saturday, bully kids with them, and be in the popular crowd during lunch. After having all this fun time, I noticed that my grades has been pulled down. Through all the fun I just had, I forgot to do my homework and forgot to study for tests. I also received a lot of detentions and warnings for bullying and fighting kids in the restroom. Instead of leaving the group, I have taught them to be better though. This is the negative effect on me for joining the "cool" and "popular" group. After they got better, I still left the group to prevent myself from future effects. I later joined another group, which is a much preferable and better choice.

Interlopers Quickwrite

Since the French-Indian War, the British Parliament decided that the only way to earn more money was to tax the colonist. So the parliament passed a stamp act that started a bitter revolution from the colonists. For almost two decades, they have rebelled against any taxation and other unfair laws. Around the 1770s, the Boston Tea Party begun on a coast in Boston. Many people dumped all the tea and refused to pay for any English things. The feud between these two groups started an official Revolutionary War in 1774.
Two same but different religious groups have been having feuds since the 1500s. The Holy Catholic Church has been giving out indulgences to many people to forgive their sins. Martin Luther, a man who believed that this was all about greed wrote the 95 thesis to hope that the church will change due to it. Unexpectedly, the church chose to disregard it and excommunicated him. Martin Luther quickly gathered a group of reformers and called themselves the Protestants. This is how many new religions started, but this reforming act caused a war between the two. Though the war has ended for hundreds of years now, many people still feel that there is a major difference between the two. Many Catholics will become very angered if they were to be called "Christians" or more specifically "Protestants". So will many non- Catholic groups   of the Christian world, will refused to be called the "Catholics" or go to their church. Even today, many churches will argue with each other. Hold different activities and different ways to baptize each believer, just to differentiate from each other.

Reflection on Term 01

To be more successful in Mr.Dahl's class I would have to be less talkative and pay attention more. I am really fine with everything in Mr.Dahl's class, frankly, they are all quite fun. My favorite activity was our Midterm Project for the storyboards and the video. I can't wait to see them today. I hated one student in our class and I would like Mr.Dahl to keep her from being proud too much. I would like to see more cooperation in our class, maybe a little bit more organization from the students. Mr.Dahl is fine, I like his strictness.

The Interlopers Quickwrite

A great example of a torn country from the 1770s is America and England. Both these countries had been together once and happily communicating with each other. England starting from 1770s has been especially biased to the new settlers in New England. Biased laws such as taxing on small items such as tea or wine are passed and caused riots. Soon a war started out after a few years from this Stamp Act and everything became a chaos. Then the colonists humiliated the English by defeating it's grand navy army and winning independence. It all smarted by a small stamp taxation and became a big political argument. Therefore, starting a war that caused many casualties. This proves that small conflicts can linger and soon grow into a big one.

Full Circle #6

The most successful part is when she finds out the fake license plate and spots the address of Terry Layton. The way Terry Layton died in the same spot as the girl he murdered was unbelievable. Some questions unanswered was, is there actual physical evidence prove, instead of just witnesses?

The Interlopers Story

There was once a man living on a precipitous hill, he never left his house, nor had money. Curious, the king of the city below decided to send some troops as marauders to search the man's house. Everyday, these "marauders" come to this man's house, which caused exasperation to the man. One Sunday, being a pious man, the man was praying to God; when these marauders barged into his house and kicked every one of his important possessions to the ground, breaking them. The troops ordered him to come with them to the city and see the king. He retorted, "Get out of my house! I don't want to see that king of yours" Forcibly taken to the court in front of the king, and taken into jail for denying a request, the man learned of the king's languor; the riches that the king always had around him never left him. One day, the man snuck out of jail and took all of the king's gold. The king the next day went to the man and begged for forgiveness and wishes his riches to be back. Feeling condolences for the king and wants a succor from all the stress he had. He gave back the gold and acquiesced in the court was given to the man.

Scooby Doo : The Ghost Castle

In this episode, Scooby and his friends land on a weird island with a deserted castle in the middle. They find a hotel and stay there; they then get a warning from the only owner of the hotel of a ghost in the castle. Later they go into the castle thinking that the ghost should be a prank from a man. They later found out that this ghost was a magician who uses illusions to trick people and scare them out. He scared people off because there was a treasure inside he wanted no one else to find. This magician was then sent off to jail and "Scooby Snacks" were given to Scooby for his work. This mystery movie is very exciting and I would recommend all of the people I know to watch it. Although the story may sound scary, it is actually more of a comedy. Many pranks are rather funny and the stupidity of some of the people make the movie something to crack up about. The story is good, because you learn a lot of smart and quick thinking while you watch the movie and it keeps the watcher interested.
